OpenVAR is a small device designed for hang glider and paraglider pilots who need a very essential and lightweight instrument for their thermal flights.
It uses a digital pressure sensor to provide information on vertical speed, a small piezo for acoustic feedback and optionally a Bluetooth connection to send data to other devices.
